No Arrests in the New Year’s Day Murder of Joseph Babb

Twenty-year-old Joseph Babb was murdered in cold blood on New Year’s Day, pursued by his attacker on Blue Marlin Boulevard and shot multiple times.  The slaying of the gang leader has prompted the police department to step up its presence in the Lake Independence area where it is anticipated that the gang will attempt to seek retribution.  While they have locked down Lake Independence, investigators are no closer to making an arrest.  On Wednesday, Acting Commissioner Chester Williams told the media that they are following a particular lead, but that the motive would not be divulged just yet until they are able to make progress.  Babb, a resident of Jones Street, was the first homicide in Belize City for 2019.
