PC Tyrell Rowley Arraigned for New Year’s Day Beat Down of San Pedro Resident
Twenty-two days after San Pedro resident Jamil Leal was brutality beaten, a police officer, twenty-one-year-old Tyrell Rowley, was today taken to court. Rowley was charged for wounding and following his arraignment late this afternoon, he was released on bail. The rogue cop appeared before Magistrate Emmerson Banner and pleaded not guilty; he was released on bail of one thousand dollars and is to reappear in court on March thirty-first. The beat down on Jamil was captured on video from various angles and Rowley and another officer, Samir Medina, came under fire for what ComPol Chester Williams says was a case of police brutality. Medina has not yet been charged with any offense and it is known that Rowley will also face internal disciplinary actions for their behaviour on New Year’s Day on the island. Rowley is attached to the San Pedro Quick Response Team, but is on interdiction.
