Mother finds out it’s triplets during delivery
A Belize City mother is tonight three times blessed. Twenty year old Jolene Lamb knew she was expecting, but when she went into labour on Boxing Day, little did she know she was about to get the surprise of her life. Jacqueline Woods has the story.

The three bundles of joy were born just after midnight on December twenty-sixth at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. The triplets, all girls, remain in the baby care unit, but are doing well and will be discharged soon. The babies weighed three pounds, nine ounces, five pounds and six pounds respectively. The delivery did not only keep the K.H.M.H. staff busy, but twenty-year-old Jolene Lamb says she had expected to have only one baby.

“At what point during the pregnancy did you find out you were going to have three babies.”
Jolene Lamb, Mother of Triplets
“I didn’t even know I was going to have three babies.”
Jacqueline Woods
“How did that happen?”
Jolene Lamb
“I’m not really sure. I was only expecting one child and getting ready for one child. I was very surprised, shocked.”
Jacqueline Woods
“How was the pregnancy? Was it difficult, lots of pains?”
Jolene Lamb
“The different thing about the pregnancy was just feeling bad, vomiting most of the time. Besides that, it was a normal pregnancy.”
Jacqueline Woods
“You attended prenatal care and all during that care the nurses…”
Jolene Lamb
“They told me it could be two. They told me to take an ultrasound, but I didn’t go. It was best that I didn’t go because I would have fret thinking I couldn’t bring the three of them here.”
Jacqueline Woods
“So how do you think you’ll manage with three little girls?”
Jolene Lamb
“I don’t know, but I’ll have to try.”
Lamb has not given the babies their names as yet. In the meantime she has received some assistance but will need more help.
Jolene Lamb
“I would like people to help me with clothing, diapers, feed, milk. I thank Grace Kennedy, they’ve already helped me out with a case of diapers. I just ask anybody to help me the best way they could and I thank them very much.”
Lamb would like to thank the nurse who helped deliver the babies. It is not certain when was the last time triplets were born at the K.H.M.H. but one doctor says it has been at least five years. Reporting for News 5, Jacqueline Woods.
