CAPU calls for public hearings by January 4th
The Committee for Action on Public Utilities, CAPU, has today called for an extraordinary meeting of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Utilities. According to a press release sent out by the group, a letter has been sent to Mike Espat, chairman of the committee on Public Utilities, requesting a meeting by the fourth of January, as quote, “a matter of urgency and special request,” end quote. CAPU says it has hundreds of signatures of consumers complaining about the new B.T.L. rates. They want a public hearing at the Civic Centre in Belize City to be held so customers can voice their concerns. Viewers can recall that the Public Utilities Commission has been unable to proceed with its planned public hearing until a judicial review by the Supreme Court is completed on January third.
