Robbers hit Cayo, Orange Walk

Two shopkeepers were the victims of noontime robberies on Wednesday in the north and west respectively. According to police, a thief or thieves broke into Lindsay’s Discount hardware in Esperanza while the store was closed for lunch. Owner Marthita Lindsay has verified that money was stolen from the cash register. Same hour, different district, other thieves were holding up a shop in Orange Walk. Can Ki Chan of Main Street reports that just as he closing his restaurant he was approached by one Creole and two Hispanic men. While one of them pointed a small handgun at Chan, the other two went inside and took money from the drawer. Because of a new police policy, the amount the thieves got away with in each crime is not being disclosed to the press. The idea is to not let the thieves know which businesses have the most cash.
