Paulette Elrington No Longer Employed with G.O.B.
Paulette Elrington, daughter of Foreign Affairs Minister Wilfred Elrington, is no longer in the employment of the Government of Belize. This is according to a letter dated February seventh, 2019. The letter was sent by the C.E.O. in the ministry, Pat Andrews, who was responding to a letter sent by the Public Service Union a day prior. The P.S.U. expressed its objection to the request for study leave with full pay and allowances intact for Elrington. The union also expressed its condemnation and disappointment with the C.E.O. as well as the Head of Mission to the UN, Lois Young, for conceiving the recommendation. In the letter, C.E.O. Andrews tells the P.S.U. that the request for study leave was not considered because Elrington is not eligible for such leave. According to the C.E.O., no permanent post was ever created for Elrington. In fact, Andrews tells the P.S.U. that Elrington is no longer employed with the Government of Belize. There is, however, confirmation that Elrington remains in the government system and expected to continue receiving her pay. Her contract is set to expire in March 2020. Ambassador Young has gone on record to say, “I had no knowledge or involvement in any way, shape or form with anything written by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on behalf of the contract officer in question.” Minister Elrington has also said he had no knowledge of the request.
