Less than 2 Months for the I.C.J. Referendum

With fifty more days to go until the April tenth I.C.J. Referendum, government still has the opportunity to take the Special Agreement to the House.

“The beauty of all of it is that April tenth 2019 is not a date set on stone. So the Prime Minister and the government need to understand that it is flexible in the very same manner that Guatemala postponed their referendum for I believe it was for three years. I believe that they need to look at his legal opinion and certain things need to be cured before we can actually take it for a vote at a referendum.”

“Once we have a yes in the matter, that’s a trigger mechanism. One of the case a lawyer used a very colorful metaphor. He said that the process involved it operates in such a way that the trigger is pulled and once the trigger is puller the bullet is fired. We don’t know where the bullet may lodge but it has fired. So it starts an irreversible course which is taken. In the course of the various processes in the Special Agreement being undertaken, the National Assembly is being by-passed and as it were it will simply be a rubber stamp.”
