NCFC Weighs in on Cyber Bullying

The mass circulation of a video clip depicting an underage female student in her high school uniform engaged in a sexual act is repulsive.  Since its release over the weekend, a number of government and non-government agencies have come forward to condemn the act and the recording, as well as its distribution.  The National Committee for Families and Children has followed suit and strongly denounces the increased incidents of cyber bullying which has resulted in the harmful and illegal circulation of a sexually explicit video of the fifteen-year-old Wesley College student.  The NCFC also reiterates that the 2013 Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children Prohibition Acts criminalizes both the possession and the production of any sexually explicit images or videos of children under the age of eighteen years.  In an update to our story from Monday, the student has not been suspended from school.  In fact, a relative has informed that a leave of absence was requested in order to provide the young girl with professional counseling.  Criminal charges are also being sought against the perpetrator who was reportedly extorting the minor for money.  Wesley College is working closely with the student and her family in getting her through this traumatic ordeal.
