Former employee of Rosa Cornejo charged with her murder
In an update to the murder of sixty-eight year old business woman, Rosa Cristina Cornejo, two persons, an adult and a minor have been arrested and charged for her homicide. The woman, who was the owner of a store at Market Square in the capital, originally hailed from El Salvador. She was reported missing from her home in the Salvapan Area of Belmopan since April eighteenth and ten days later, last Tuesday, her charred remains were found about three hundred yards on a feeder road off Mile forty-six and forty-seven in the Mount Pleasant Area on the Western Highway. One of the two accused persons: an ex-employee of Cornejo, eighteen year old Herson Sanchez was questioned and released but he was picked up again and charged along with a sixteen year old minor. When they appeared in Belmopan’s Magistrates’ Court this morning, Sanchez was remanded to the Hattieville Prison and the minor was sent to boot-camp. The two are scheduled to return to court on June nineteenth.
