Southern Choice robbed; second time in two weeks
With the number of armed holdups being reported to the police these days, it’s no longer a question of just where did it happen but rather, how big the guns were and how much did they get. The latest victim having a string of bad luck appears to be Southern Choice Gas Depot on the Stann Creek Valley Road. Just over a week ago, the cashier at the company’s office was robbed at gunpoint of more than thirteen hundred dollars. On Thursday, police arrested twenty-nine year old Glen Augustine of the Sabal area in Dangriga and charged him with robbery. But later that same day, police were back at Southern Choice after the company was robbed for a second time. Forty-seven year old Justo Donnis, a driver for the gas company, reported to police that just after four p.m., he was driving from Gales Point to Dangriga via the Coastal Highway, but was forced to stop when two masked men, brandishing what appeared to be point thirty-eight revolvers, stepped into the road. The men then stole the three hundred dollars Donnis had made from sales that day and escaped into the bushes. Police have not made any arrests so far.
