Police make an arrest in Tuesday night’s shooting
Nineteen-year-old Keenan Young, a music producer, appeared before Magistrate Khadeen Palmer and was arraigned for use of deadly means of harm. Since the offense was allegedly committed with the use of a firearm, Magistrate Palmer asked him to provide special reasons why he should be granted bail. Young told the court that he is innocent and that he has alibi witnesses to testify that he was not the shooter. But he admitted knowing Jovi Carballo from a previous incident in which he claimed Carballo jacked a phone from him. He also told the court that he is helping his mother with his brother who is autistic. But the court prosecutor, Corporal Kennard Clark submitted that a prima facie case has been established and that the reasons given by Young do not add up for him to be granted bail. Magistrate Palmer denied bail to Young and remanded him until May. The incident took place on Tuesday night on Raccoon Street Extension. Carballo was driving a car when he spotted Young running toward him and opening fire on him. Carballo sped off and ended up colliding into a chain link fence.
