Two wounded in Sandhill robbery
Two men are hospitalised tonight after they were attacked in Sandhill just after midnight this morning. According to police, sixty-four year old U.S. citizen John Craver and forty-one year old Wayne Cattouse arrived at Craver’s house on mile seventeen on the Northern Highway, only to surprise two men who were in the process of burglarising the premises. The robbers were armed with a sawed off shotgun and a knife, and as Cattouse attempted to wrestle the gun away from one of the men, his accomplice stabbed him in the chest. During the scuffle, Craver was also stabbed in his back. News 5 understands that Cattouse did recognise one of the attackers, but has been unable to identify the man to police as he underwent surgery late this afternoon. Police have since recovered the shotgun believed to have been used in the attack but no suspects have yet been detained.
