Compol says internal investigation is still ongoing
On Tuesday, Commissioner Chester Williams was asked about the status of the investigation into interdicted Corporal Darrell Tutsie Usher. If you’ll recall, he has been on interdiction because he was charged with drug trafficking. Usher was recently freed of that charge but he is still facing charges before a police tribunal. Earlier this month, he was detained for another matter which he was subsequently cleared of. But Police say that he violated the department’s media policy when he used a cell-phone while detained at the Queen Street Police Station. He used the phone to expose the deplorable conditions of the detention cell and blasted the Belize Police Department. Williams was asked about the status of that internal investigation. Here’s what he had to say.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“Mr. Usher appeared two years ago in the Magistrate’s Court in Belize City two years ago. He was charged for drug trafficking. That matter concluded recently and he was acquitted of that charge. However, the internal matter where those drugs are concerned is still before the tribunal, so we are awaiting the tribunal case. As it relates to the media policy issue, that matter is still at PSB under investigation.”
