Mayor Bernard Hopes Councilor Goodin Does Soul Searching
PUP Belize City Councillor, Micah Goodin remains without a portfolio tonight. After being benched following an altercation with City Administrator Stephanie Lindo-Garbutt, Councillor Goodin took to Facebook to respond to the Council’s unified position on the incident. Councillor Goodin posted that he was being used by the ‘bigger heads’, stating that “the bigger heads loved me, even more, when I received the second most votes countrywide and helped to carry the team to the finish line. But yet they did not want me to sit at the table when all was said and done. They do not care for the youth. They only use us to win elections.” He also alleged that many job applications submitted to the Council were thrown into the garbage and ‘requests for medical and education assistance were laughed upon’. Today we asked Mayor Bernard Wagner for a reaction.
Bernard Wagner, Belize City Mayor
“The good councillor again like I told you last Friday I was hoping that he would have taken the time off to really reassess where he is, take some time off from the business of the council, do some soul searching. Unfortunately he has resorted to a type of game that is not productive. I really do not want to get in a back and forth with the good councillor. I am hoping that cooler heads prevail and at some point down the road he will realize that the path he has taken is very destructive not only for him but down the road for his ambition as a young politician. He has been on social media since last Friday continuously on and on so his story has been told. Our story has not been told. I keep those to my chest and I know where the goods are so I will continue to keep those to my chest and when I am ready I will use it.”

“Has there been any communication with Micah? From the councillors?”
Bernard Wagner
“None for my end? I am not certain; I can’t speak for the other councillor. From my end I continue to stress that the councillor needs time to reassess and I’ll give him the space.”
