RECONDEV dismantles a home in Salvapan
A woman in Salvapan is without a roof over her head tonight. Nicolasa Cus, who lives in the community just on the outskirts of Belmopan, says that this morning personnel from the RECONDEV knocked at her door and served her a notice to get out of the house because it was going to be dismantled. Now, from what we gathered, Cus was served notice of eviction on different occasions. She claims that she had been living on the land for twelve years and that she had tried to buy a piece of the property. News Five understands that a person with title to the land wants to develop it and so they need Cus to relocate from there. This morning she spoke with our colleagues at Plus T.V. and here’s what she had to say about her living situation.
Nicolasa Cus, Evicted
“He said you don’t know me Miss and I don’t know you. He said he had a contract from RECONDEV to come and break down my house and I told him ok that I will consult my lawyer about that. He came this morning but I was expecting him until tomorrow not today. Honestly, I don’t have anywhere to go and I need the piece of land. But the man who wants to buy the land says he wants to invest there but I just want to live on the land with my two little girls. That is all I want – I just want him to give me this piece and I will give him his money. It is not that I don’t want to pay for the land. I will pay for the land. I need to send this to Recondev – honestly, I need my house back and I won’t move this land because I need it. I am a proud, born Belizean and I nuh want to – I nuh come here with no paper to make them do this to me. I was born here. I am a proud Belize and hard working woman. I don’t go to beg on the streets to feed my mouth to let them do this to me.”
