Top Cop Holds Public Meeting in PG

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams hosted a public meeting in Punta Gorda on Friday evening to discuss the concerns of residents in the wake of an increase in crime and violence in that southern municipality.  The meeting was held several days after the homicides of Oscar Humes and Kevin Moro, who were both shot and killed when a gunman entered a home that the duo was visiting and opened fire on them.  There is growing fear that gang violence has taken root in PG and over the weekend the top cop was in town to address those trepidations.  News Five spoke by phone with C.E.O. George Lovell of the Ministry of National Security.

“We had a public meeting and I was made to understand that over five hundred people attended that meeting and that was well received and so the minister used the opportunity also to exercise the importance of the police community relationship which certainly we are working on again to strengthen as we go forward.”
