Manuel Pacheco Committed to Stand Trial for Murder
Well-known businessman, Manuel Pacheco of Pacheco’s Jewelry, will have to stand trial at the April session of the Supreme Court for murder. That was the outcome of his Preliminary Inquiry which ended this morning before Senior Magistrate, Tricia Pitts-Anderson and his attorney, Senior Counsel Ellis Arnold. Arnold chose not to challenge any of the evidence presented by the prosecutor, Inspector, Egbert Castillo amounting to as many as nineteen statements and eleven exhibits. A statement from Pacheco was also entered. Pacheco is being accused of killing his neighbour, Jose Manuel Villanueva, during a heated altercation that ended in the shooting death of Villanueva. At the end of the paper committal, the senior magistrate asked Pacheco if he had any alibi witnesses, but he didn’t and was given seven days to provide a list of names. Pacheco has been on remand since his arraignment, June eighteen 2018.
