A Vehicle and Cycle are Torched in PG
Last month at least three vehicles were intentionally set on fire in Punta Gorda. Police have been trying to solve the case of the burning vehicles but they haven’t had much luck in nabbing the serial arsonist. And on Wednesday night an arsonist struck again; this time, torching a vehicle and motorcycle. Unlike the other cases, cops have now detained one person in connection with these two latest cases. ACP Joseph Myvett says that the two incidents happened in proximity; the first to be burned is the vehicle on Front Street in Punta Gorda.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Upon arrival, in front of the home of Joseph Supaul, a Honda CRV vehicle was seen engulfed in flames and the front portion was damaged. Also further down that street in front of the home of Carmela Cacho, police also found a Scooter on fire and partial damage to the house she occupies. So, far police have one person in their custody pending investigation and are doing certain measures in order to determine whether or not if this is the person that has set those fires.”

“Do investigators suspect that it is part of the ongoing strange arsons of vehicles in PG?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Yes, we do believe so. So, we are putting all of those investigations together even though they are being investigated separately to see if there is any connection.”

“What can you say to reassure residents of PG that you all are trying to locate this person who has become a sort of menace in PG?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Well, as I have said before Punta Gorda police have stepped up their preventative efforts, as well as other strategies.”
