No Arrests for Shooting of Elderly Security Guard
On Wednesday night you heard the story of a sixty-four-year-old security guard who was attacked as he stood watch at Prosser Fertilizers at mile eight on the George Price Highway. Today, police shared the details of what happened, but they say that it is unclear whether the business was the target or if the assailants were there for the guard. ASP Alejandro Cowo says that the gunman had cut a hole through the fence on the property and that is where he entered and exited.

“Upon arrival they observed the security guard sixty-four-year-old Rupert Ackino with an apparent gunshot wound to the left foot. He was transported to the hospital where he is still admitted in a stable condition. What Mr. Akino had mentioned is that just before two a.m., he was inside the booth inside the compound of the Prosser Fertilizer Company, when he saw a man coming towards his direction firing shots at him. He managed to run out of the building where the person pursued him and fired shots at him causing the injuries to him.”

“Do you believe the person or persons came there specifically to target him or the facility itself?”

“Well, we know that the business establishment doesn’t have any money in that area stored. It is a warehouse where fertilizer is stored. They went directly to the security guard and nothing is missing up to now. He is uncertain why that happened to him and more so he is not from the area. He is from the Cayo area.”
