Mexican Embassy Hosts Women’s Empowerment Session
All month long there have been several events across the country to celebrate women’s contributions to society and history. Today, the Mexican Embassy held an empowerment session at the Mexican Institute in Belize City. The event featured two presenters, including Governor of Central Bank Joy Grant. We stopped by to find out more about women in their professional development. Here’s a look at what happened.
Carlos Quesnel, Mexican Ambassador to Belize
“We have the participation of two outstanding women; Ambassador Grant and C.E.O. Jones who shared their thoughts, their experiences with us about what woman can do to succeed in life and that there are no limits for them. We are very satisfied with this kind of exercise because it is very important to share these experiences of women who have been very successful to the younger generations.”
Joy Grant, Governor, Central Bank of Belize
“The main point of what I would say today is to tell women that they have all that is needed to accomplish anything they want but they have to realize that there are challenges and they will have to make sacrifices along the way. From the very beginning when I decided to get into the field of finance and international economics. It was a change even then because it was not a field that many women entered. But I always wanted to do something with finance and having done that, I did many things along the way that were not totally connected to finance but in the end it is all these things that help to make you the person you are.”
