NTUCB calls out the Police High Command
This evening the National Trade Union Congress of Belize called out the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams. The N.T.U.C.B. says that it has viewed the apparent public confrontation between Williams and the Police Association. The Association is suing the Commissioner of Police for measures he took to reduce the term of the President of the Association through a statutory instrument. N.T.U.C.B. says that professional, respect and integrity are associated with the department. For this reason it cannot fathom that the members of the department are in a situation where their freedom to associate is diminished to the point where the high command can make and change the rules and even dissolve the association. N.T.U.C.B. says that this is not in-line with modern society and freedoms and rights afforded in the constitution.
