Human Skull found in rural Belize

On Thursday, a human skull was found near the Bacab Eco Park off the northern highway. Police say persons working in the area came across the skull just lying on the ground under some pine trees. No other bones were found in the area and the skull is now being tested. Here’s what police shared about the discovery.

“Police visited Bacab Park where one of the persons handed over a human skull. Thereafter, they went to an area behind Los Lagos where it was found. Police check the area but there were no other remains of any other bones there. At this moment the human skull is at the forensic lab and that will determine if it is a male or female and to probably determine the age of the person but that will be done until tomorrow. On the doctor’s examination of the human skull, if there is a possibility to say what is the cause of death I believe they will do it. We have about two missing persons in that area. One was reported about two or three years ago and the other is Mr. Segura who was missing from Sandhill and also seen in that immediate area. So, those are the two persons probably that they are looking for at this moment.”
