‘El Beliceno’ Caught by Mexican Authorities

An online news article published by Reporteros De Banqueta in Mexico identifies a Belizean man as part of a criminal gang operating in Chetumal and Bacalar. According to the article, the Public Safety Director for the jurisdiction released the identity of Amado Gonzalez as the alleged leader of the group. It is believed that Belizeans and Mexicans are working together in carrying out armed robberies. Members reportedly target gas stations, convenience stores, hotels and pharmacies. Gonzalez’s image was released by Mexican authorities three weeks ago with hopes that the public would provide information leading to his arrest and that of his accomplices. Tonight, we can report that Gonzalez has been arrested by Mexican authorities and is facing several counts of aggravated burglary.
