Wave Dancer to be brought up at Big Creek
Meanwhile, investigations into the tragic accident aboard the diveboat Wave Dancer, is expected to reach a climax this week as the boat is to be lifted out of the water. There are several theories as to why the boat overturned, including reports that the bow line was tied too tight and snapped under pressure from the strong winds and fifteen foot storm surge. However, there is also the possibility that a barge that was tied close to the diveboat broke free of its lines and slammed into the Wave Dancer causing a breach in the hull. According to officials at the Belize Port Authority, the vessel will be brought to the surface so officers can conduct an onboard investigation. If the boat cannot stay afloat, it will then be transferred to a barge and moved to another location. Twenty people, who were on the diveboat at the time, perished when the vessel capsized in the waters of the Big Creek Port where she was seeking shelter from Hurricane Iris in early October.
