Robbers net $93,000 in crime spree
Separate robberies in Cayo and Belize City have netted the bad guys an estimated ninety-three thousand Belize dollars. Chinese businessman Su Guo Qiang of Santa Elena, proprietor of Fuhua Restaurant, reported to police that masked men made off with fifty-eight thousand Belize dollars in cash in the early hours of Monday. The businessman claims that he and his wife were in the restaurant when at about 2:30 a.m. on Monday, three masked men broke into the building and stole fifty thousand Belize dollars and four thousand in U.S. currency. No arrests have been made.
Meanwhile, a homeowner in Belize City returned from his vacation only to find out burglars had relieved him of most of his household items. Fifty-six year old Jeremy Sawyer, an American living in Belize, left the country on October first, but when he came back last week, his home on Princess Margaret Drive was ransacked and approximately thirty-five thousand dollars in personal and household goods were missing. Investigations thus far have not resulted in any arrests.
