Shooting Victim in City is Critical
A Belize City man is in the hospital in a critical condition after he was shot inside his home on Pelican Street in Belize City on Wednesday night. Police say that sometime after nine, a man visited the house of thirty-eight-year-old Lawrence Simpson and called out his name. Simpson was inside with his family and when he opened the door – there was a gunman waiting for him. ASP Alejandro Cowo tells us more about the shooting.

“He heard someone calling his name. He went and open the front door and that is when someone outside fired several shots at his direction causing an injury to the left side of his chest. Also there were some damages that were done to the house. Mr. Simpson was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is admitted in a critical condition at this moment.”

“Has police been able to speak with the victim at any point since the shooting, sir?”
ASP Alejandro Cowo
“No. Police have been unable to speak with him as he was taken into x-ray last night and directly to the operating theatre.”

“Have your investigating been able to determine whether or not this person who fired at him had any prior disputes?”
ASP Alejandro Cowo
“No, but we have a possible suspect that we looking at this moment.”
ASP Cowo says they are still trying to determine why Simpson was shot.
