U.S. National Dies during Snorkelling Trip
A U.S. national also lost her life over the weekend on Ambergris Caye. Lora Brook Peterson was visiting the island and was out on a snorkelling trip at Mexican Rocks Marine Reserve on the north end of the island when she had trouble breathing. Despite efforts to resuscitate her, Peterson perished. The body of the sixty-seven-year-old woman was taken to the San Pedro Polyclinic and will be transported to the K.H.M.H. morgue where a post-mortem is scheduled. ASP Alejandro Cowo says that the incident occurred around ten a.m. on Sunday.

“San Pedro police visited the polyclinic where they observed the motionless body of Lora Brook Peterson, sixty-seven years U.S. national. What police gathered so far is that sometime after ten in the morning, she was snorkelling at the Mexican Rocks Marine Reserve about eight miles north of San Pedro when she began gasping for air. CPR was done on her and she was transported to the polyclinic where she passed away. No foul play is suspected.”
