“That night he arrived. We were talking, calmly without fighting or anything. When Itzel told me to go to the side of the bar and then he hugged me. I did not think that he would stab me. And when he stabbed me I fell. I don’t remember anything else.”
Luckily for Chavez, her co-workers witnessed the terrifying attack and sprung into action after noticing that Chavez was at the mercy of her attacker.

“He asked her if she is sure of what she is doing three times and she just answered why. In the fourth time when he asked her, he said he is just bid a word to her and then she asked her why. Then I see he pull out the knife and then started to stab her. When I saw he was stabbing her the second time, I ran to my boss and told him that boss they are stabbing her. I ran. When I come out and see what happened, he already had stabbed her up.”
Chavez was stabbed almost a dozen times. She received stab wounds in her abdomen, chest, back, and leg. Originally from Guatemala, Bejerano then made a run for it. Bleeding profusely, Chavez was rushed to the WRH and admitted in a critical condition. Doctors and nurses there managed to save her life.
“I went to visit her and she is still recovering but she is still awake. She has already taken three litres of blood as far as I know. She is getting over it but she still kind of bad for me.”
Chavez and Bejerano were together for about six months during which Chavez became pregnant. The couple separated before the child was born and it was not until recently that Bejerano returned, seeking to establish a bond with the child. According to Chavez, Bejerano was allowed to visit his daughter but as days flew by, his intentions became known. According to allegations, Bejerano had intentions to kidnap the baby girl.
“I did not think that he would go to this extreme. It hurts what he did. He did not think about his daughter. He did not think that if he killed me, with whom would have his daughter stayed with. She was not going to stay with his family.”
While the doctors managed to save her life, Chavez remains fearful that Bejerano, if not captured soon, might return to finish what he started. Hipolito Novelo, News Five.
