Alberto Requeña is Murdered in Steadfast

Joseph Myvett

Another murder during the Labour Day holiday occurred in the south. In this case, police say that they have the murder weapon as well as the suspect in custody at the Dangriga Police station and charges will soon be levied. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett says that officers responded to Stann Creek Valley Road and discovered the body of Alberto Requeña. He had been stabbed multiple times and left to die in a drain as he headed home from work on Wednesday night. Meanwhile a motive for the killing has still not been determined.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Dangriga Police was called to an area between miles fifteen and sixteen on the Stann Creek Valley Road where they observed a Hispanic male person lying in a drain apparently motionless. He was later identified to be Alberto Requeña, twenty-three years of the said village. Our investigation revealed that Requeña was on his way home from work when he was approached by a male person who inflicted stab wounds to him causing the fatal injuries. So far, police have one person in custody and we also believe that we may have recovered the knife used in the stabbing.”
