Belize People’s Front- An Alternative Party
Back to the Belize People’s Front, Nancy Marin says her party will contest the upcoming 2020 General Elections. According to Marin, the B.P.F. is a movement of independent leaders for progressive reform and made up of a handful of members, four who were present today during a press conference in Belize City. According to Marin, her party does not aspire to be another special interest group but instead seek to diminish the negative influence of partisanship. But for an “alternative party’ to successfully challenge the long-standing and established United Democratic Party and the People’s United Party, the Belize People’s Front will need finances. Marin says the party is in talks with Mexican investors.
Nancy Marin Juan, Leader, Belize People’s Front
“We don’t like to consider ourselves a third party. We consider ourselves an alternative party, the alternative party for Belize. They are all good people, they came and they developed with very good intentions. I am very good friends with all the other parties, but I will say that they were in quite a hurry in the last election to bring forth candidates. They accepted anyone that applied because the idea was just to have a slate for election. In my opinion and in the BPF’s opinion, those two parties have been the problem in Belize. We’ve not elected leaders we’ve elected politicians that are greedy, that are there for self-interest and that is what we need to change. At the moment, the campaign funding, some of the members of the party are giving from their own. We are getting some from the Diaspora and we do have negotiations with some possible investors in Mexico that are willing to come invest and starting to invest in our party. We can not disclose the names Marion yet, soon though.”
