Dell & Sensations perform on Saturday
If you have no plans as yet for this weekend, we just might have a suggestion. Since 1979 Dell and the Sensations, a Belizean band based in Los Angeles, has been holding concerts in Belize, especially during the September celebrations. On Saturday night, the band invites you to the City Centre for a first of its kind show, featuring the traditional band and other artists as well. According to leader Phil Smart, it’s one performance Belizeans will not soon forget.
Phil Smart, Band Leader, Dell and The Sensations
“We call it the Belizean First Dance and Show for the twentieth anniversary. This is in conjunction with the September Celebrations Committee. We are featuring Belize’s own Dell and the Sensations along with Soca Princess.
We consider ourselves ambassadors of Belize and everywhere we go we tell them where we come from. We come from Gales Point Manatee. We usually call that the capital of Belize, but we try to get Belizeans together and say hey it’s Belizeans first, let us put Belize on the map. And where ever we go we let them know where we are from.”
The concert gets underway Saturday at 8:00 at the Belize City Centre. Reporting for News 5 Jacqueline Woods.
Tickets for the dance and concert are available at Venus Photo and Records, Business Computer Systems and C.Y.’s Music for fifteen dollars. Admission at the door is twenty-five.
