Prison Escapee Christian Neal Remains at Large
Christian Neal is one of three inmates at the Belize Central Prison who managed to escape from detention last Tuesday. Neal, a resident of San Ignacio, was serving time for carnal knowledge, along with Rafael Mencias and Wilser Echevarria who are incarcerated for other offenses when they also made a dash for freedom. While Mencias and Echevarria were recaptured shortly thereafter, Neal remains at large. C.E.O. Virgilio Murillo took the opportunity to remind the public that harboring an escapee is a criminal offense punishable by law.

“We’re still pursuing him and I am glad that you asked the question because one of the things that I want to do is to take this opportunity to tell the public please don’t run the risk of harboring that prisoner because anybody who harbors a prisoner can face up to five years imprisonment if they catch them. That is the law. So maybe you could publish this so that they hear. We’re still on him and we’re hoping to get him very, very soon.”
