Mexicans host Belize City fair

Story Picture
Feria de la Amistad: A friendship fair between Mexico and Belize, opens tonight at the Memorial Park in Belize City. According to Mexican Ambassador to Belize Arturo Trejo, the four-day event is an opportunity for both countries to strengthen the friendly relations that have existed for years.

“We want to stress that we want to co-operate in trade issues, we want to co-operate in economic issues. I register in Belize a new wind, a wind of change of more openness, and I think this whole country is going to have wider commercial relations between both countries. We will have around ten exhibitors from Mexico, different type of exhibitors. We will have for example cars, we will have wedding dresses, instruments for horse riders and we will have also attractions for people who come with children, mechanical rides, and of course Mexican food, Mexican beer. Distribuidora Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma is our biggest sponsor. We have been getting a lot of support from BELTRAIDE, the Belizean Government and the City Council of Belize City.”

“This is like a local version of the expo-fair that Chetumal usually has?”

Arturo Trejo

“Yes, it could be seen as a version. There are many fairs, but the most important thing is to do something that the people get together; get to know what we have to offer, as well as the Mexicans who will come and see what Belize has to offer.”

The fair runs from 7:00 until 12:00 midnight daily except for the final day, Sunday, when gates open at noon. Entrance is free.
