2 Charged for Aggravated Burglary at Farm
On Wednesday, police formally arrested and charged two of four persons believed to have been involved in an aggravated burglary at a farm near mile forty-four on the George Price Highway. Camalote resident, Justin Banner and Santa Elena resident, Luis Castellanos have been jointly charged for aggravated burglary; Banner has additionally been charged for attempted murder, having fired several shots at the farm manager, Marvin Vanzie. On Tuesday morning, the watchman at the property was badly beaten and robbed before he was tied up inside the security booth. As the robbers were escaping, it is suspected that Banner opened fire at the manager as he arrived at the farm. At today’s press brief, Assistant Commissioner Joseph Myvett said that police are zoning in on the two other culprits.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Police were called and those persons were pursued and police end up detaining one of those persons. And during the course of the investigation, a second person was detained and since this morning, police have arrested and charged Justin Banner, twenty-two years of a Camalote address and Luis Castellanos, forty-one years of a Bradley’s Bank address in Santa Elena Town for the crime of aggravated burglary. In that regard, two other persons are being sought and additional charges are expected to be proffered against Justin Banner.”

“Sir, this robbery and assault case and I guess we can throw in hostage situation…has it been determined what these robbers were looking for? We know that the watchman was robbed of a hundred dollars and personal effects but that doesn’t seem to be a clear motive for four individuals to want to rob that particular location.”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Well hence the reason for the investigation. That is what we are trying to get to the bottom of at this point in time other than to say that that may have been the only motive for them to have gone to that farm.”
