Armed Thieves Target Sun Luck Store in Orange Walk Town

Police in Orange Walk are investigating a robbery which occurred on Tuesday night. Sun Luck Store on Zericote Street was targeted by a pair of armed thieves after seven o’clock. The men rode off with nine hundred dollars from the day’s proceeds. Before escaping, one of the robbers fired a single shot from a point thirty-eight revolver. Luckily, no one was seriously injured. Tonight, investigators are reviewing security footage of the robbery with the hopes of identifying the culprits. Hipolito Novelo reports.

At around seventy-twenty on Tuesday night, a nine-one-one call summoned Orange Walk Police to Sun Luck Store on Zericote Street. The owner of the store had been held at gunpoint by two young Hispanic males who barged into the store with their faces semi-covered.

Security footage shows one of the robbers pointing what appears to be a revolver at twenty-five-year-old Hong Zhen Qiu who was attending to a customer when the thieves stormed in. One of the men was armed with a knife.

Qiu was grabbed by one of the assailants who placed the knife to his neck. The other robber kept the firearm pointed at Qiu who was ordered to hand over the money. He did so. The thieves made off with nine hundred dollars. They rode off on their bicycles but not before firing a single shot towards the counter.

Investigators recovered a point thirty-eight slug from the scene. The suspects are not known to police. The stolen cash was not recovered. Hipolito Novelo, News Five.
