Elderly Couple Perishes in RTA in San Narciso
An elderly couple perished in a deadly collision earlier today in the Corozal District. Sometime around 1:30 pm, a white Ford Ranger pickup crashed into Freightliner truck in the vicinity of San Narciso Village. According to police, thirty-five-year-old Erik Ermoff was driving along the Phillip Goldson Highway towards Orange Walk. Between miles seventy-two and seventy-three, a husband and wife, identified as Audomaro and Romana Chan, were traveling in the opposite direction and were attempting to make a left turn into the village when the towhead slammed into their vehicle. Seventy-four-year-old Romana Chan died on impact, while her husband, seventy-four-year-old Audomaro Chan died en route to Belize City whilst being transported from the Corozal hospital. Ermoff has since been served with a notice of intended prosecution. Meanwhile, another road traffic accident, this time near Carmelita Village in the Orange Walk District, ended with a vehicle overturning on the shoulder of the Phillip Goldson Highway after colliding into a Sports Utility Vehicle. There is no official information from the police department on this second accident.
