3 Men Walk Free from Conspiracy to Commit Murder Charge
A seventeen-year-old minor and two adults have been freed of conspiracy to commit murder in the shooting death of Lynford Baldwin. The trio appeared before Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser and saw the case dismissed due to lack of evidence against them. On May twentieth, eighteen-year-old Denver Bevans, twenty-two-year-old Joshua Gillett and the minor were arraigned for the charge. On arraignment, their attorney Herbert Panton submitted that the police had no evidence to support the charge or linked his clients to aiding accused murderer, Shawn Gibson in the commission of the crime. Inspector Egbert Castillo, who represented the crown, informed the court that after days of lobbying with the investigators, he was unable to get any evidence to prove the charge. And so, the men were freed. Shawn Gibson, the alleged shooter, remains on remand at the Belize Central Prison until July twenty-first, 2019.
