Belize City Woman Attacked, Robbed at Gunpoint by 2 Men
A Belize City woman was robbed at gunpoint at around eight o’clock on Thursday night. Thirty-year-old Rachel Wallace was riding her bicycle near the Lord Ridge Cemetery when she was attacked by two men, one of whom was armed with a pistol. The men grabbed Wallace and pulled her off her bicycle and dragged her into the cemetery. She was robbed of her passport, social security card, and six hundred Belize dollars. It is a terrifying ordeal for any person to experience and according to Police Commissioner Chester Williams, a strategy will be put in place to address the increase in robberies, not only in Belize City but countrywide.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“I have spoken to Mr. Dawson, who is the Commander of Eastern Division, because I have also noticed that we are having an increase in robberies. As a matter of fact, it is not only in Belize City but rather countrywide so I have directed commanders to put measures in place to be able to reduce that amount of robberies that are being committed. I know that measures are being put in place especially in Belize City. I am not going to say what those measures are because I am going to put those persons who want to venture into the act on notice. But we have put measures in place to ensure that we reduce the amount of robberies within not only the Cemetery area, but across Belize City and by extension across the country.”
