A Tiff between Shyne and Bradley Roe Lands on the ComPol’s Desk

Tonight, businessman Bradley Roe and Music Ambassador Shyne Barrow are making headlines, following an incident on the night of May eleventh during which Shyne was physically assaulted by the Ladyville resident.  According to a statement recorded at Precinct Four, following the altercation, Shyne reported that he was approached by Roe inside an establishment at the Northern Shops.  He then goes on to say that Roe cursed at him and that he, Barrow, walked away towards his vehicle in the parking lot.  He continued by saying that Roe pursued him to the parking lot and continued to taunt and curse him until he turned around and asked what was the problem.  Shyne says that it was at that point that he was punched in the face, above the left eye, by Bradley Roe.  Shyne, whose legal name is Moses Barrow, then proceeded to the Belama Police Station where he filed an official report and action was later taken to arrest and charge Roe for the offense.  But the matter did not end there, subsequently Roe’s attorney, Bryan Neal, has written to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, basically stating that Shyne is provoking and harassing his client and is asking the police department to intervene.  This evening, ComPol Williams weighed in on the matter by first admitting that he does not know how to respond to the situation.

“I don’t know how to respond.  I have seen the letter, I have read the letter and I am still trying to find out why it was sent to me.  Really and truly, the police have not received a complaint from Mr. Bradley Roe.  We had received a complaint from Mr. Shyne Barrow and the police had acted on the complaint from Shyne Barrow and Mr. Bradley Roe was arrested and charged and he was taken to court and Mr. Shyne subsequently had gone to the courts and withdrew that matter.  Right now there is nothing before the police from either Shyne or Bradley Roe that the police can act on.  While yes, an attorney may have some legal right in making a complaint on behalf of their client that would only apply in circumstances where the client may be out of the country or something of that sort.  But in this case I don’t see the rationale why the letter was sent to me.  I don’t know what am I supposed to do.  I am contemplating my response and as soon as I have thought of it properly then I am going to pen a response to the learned attorney.”

“It seems that he wants you to talk to Shyne or, I don’t know, to rein in Mr. Shne Barrow.”

“Well I would want to think that based on what I saw in his letter, if it is that there is any action to be done, it would be something more civil than criminal and so to come will not yield the desired results that they may need because I have seen a letter where he had said that Mr. Shyne made some accusation about his client and that he considered it to be defamatory and if that is the case then I am sure that Mr. Neal knows what to do in terms of moving forward civilly and not through the police.  It will not be a police matter.”

“Are you concerned that an officer of the court is warning the commissioner that his client basically reserves his right to take matters into his own hands if he feels sufficiently threatened?”

“Well I hope that Mr. Neal, who is a very good attorney, will warn his client that if it is that he were to engage in any action that is not justified by law, what the outcome is going to be.”
