San Cas U.B. evens basketball series
Good evening I’m James Adderley and you’re in tuned with this Chantal version of Sports Monday. Game I of the semi-pro basketball semi-final series between Data Pro Raiders and San Cas U.B. might have gone to the Raiders, but Game II certainly produced much more fireworks.
Brimming with confidence and looking to close out the show, the Raiders get off to a fast start as Fabian Pittman hooks up with Kenroy Smith for the two-handed dunk. Kirk Smith in heavy traffic then deals to Olin Simplis, who connects for three.
But in the early going its San Cas U.B. controlling the action. Dwight Myvette finds Clinton Lamb and he displays his high-flying talent. Of course you remember Olin Simplis, well he’s simply on fire today and that’s another three.
Will somebody please do something about Olin? Dwight Myvette tries, but the three lands nevertheless and Simplis would convert the four-point play after default.
Simplis then pulls up for his fourth three of the half and when you’re hot, you’re hot. He would hit six three pointers in the opening half.
For U.B., Clinton Lamb is having a good day and here he steals and goes all the way for two points. The big man for U.B. Eric Maye then powers home in traffic for two. At the half, U.B. sports a six-point lead.
In second half play, U.B. makes its move; Carter to Myvette and the scoreboard moves. It’s more Dwight Myvette when he makes this move through the heart of the Raiders defence for two points off the glass.
And in fact even on defence U.B. shows more focus as Eloy Lamb embarrasses Lloyd Leslie with the rejection. For certain things aren’t going the way of the Raiders and this foul on Damon Ollie by Bart Sanchez is obvious, but the brain thrust of the Raiders go berserk over the call.
Manager Mose Hyde walks on the court, which is a no no, gets a technical from Referee Clother and then compounds the situation with yet another crack at the referee. And then here he mimics a footballer with this kick.
The manager induces scene brings out the police who go to the source forcing him to leave the area. After giving up eight free throws against his team, Carter would only hit four.
When things get back to normal Fuller-Lamb finds Darwin Carter and his three is good. Meanwhile, folks while it’s a repeat it’s not a replay as the two combine again for another long distance bucket.
San Cas U.B. goes on to post and 89-79 victory forcing a decisive game three this Friday night. Two men enter, but one man leaves.
Meanwhile, in the other half of the semi-finals B.T.L. Nets mashed up Orange Walk Music Centre at the People’s Stadium, exacting sweet revenge after losing game one. They won 107 to 85 Saturday night. Game III is set for Wednesday night.
