Accounts differ in Cayo girl’s death
A fifteen-year-old girl is dead and the circumstances surrounding her death are a matter of some uncertainty. Police say Tanisha Trapp boarded a Novelo’s bus around 12:30 Monday afternoon from Belmopan to go home to Camalote Village. The police report goes on to say that she was on an express bus, which does not make intermediate stops, but nonetheless, twice asked bus driver Miguel Garcia to stop to let her off. When he refused, Trapp allegedly jumped out of the moving vehicle. She fell and hit her head and was rushed to the Belmopan Hospital and later transferred to the K.H.M.H. where she died of severe head injuries. Family members, however, are refuting the police version of the story. They are saying that Trapp was pushed out of the bus by the conductor after he grew tired of her requests. Belmopan police have since detained Garcia, the driver of the Novelo’s bus, for questioning.
