Two major road accidents mar weekend
Two serious road mishaps, one of them fatal, marred an otherwise safe weekend on the nation’s roads. On Friday night Alfonso Garcia of Big Falls, Toledo was knocked from his bicycle while riding on the Southern Highway between miles eighteen and nineteen. He was rushed to the Punta Gorda Hospital and later transferred to the K.H.M.H. but died of head and body injuries this morning. Twenty year old Christina Garcia, also of Big Falls, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving without due care and attention.
On Saturday evening the insane but all too common practice of carrying numerous passengers in the back of a pickup truck has sent fifteen people to the hospital, three of them in critical condition. Twenty-two year old Wilfred Bradley of Biscayne Village was attempting to overtake a vehicle in Bermudian Landing when he lost control of his Nissan pickup. Of the fifteen people in the truck, seven were treated and released, while eight remain hospitalised at the K.H.M.H. Five are listed as stable, while twenty-eight year old Lisa Dominguez, thirty-six year old Raymond Myvett and five year old Shari Bardalez remain in critical condition. Bradley is being questioned by police pending charges.
