Two killed in separate road accidents
Two people are dead and two more have been injured in separate traffic accidents on Saturday night. In Orange Walk, Juan Blanco Junior was killed after falling out of the back of a pickup truck as it drove down Riverside Street. According to the driver, Wilhem Lodge, Blanco was drunk and sitting on the edge of the pan. Blanco may not have been the only one in the vehicle under the influence that night however, as Lodge himself was arrested and charged with refusing to provide a urine sample for analysis. In Ranchito Village, just outside Corozal Town, Urbano Castillo was killed as he was hit by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle on the Northern Highway. Thirty-three year old Rafael Ramirez, a teacher of San Narcisso, was driving the pickup truck that hit Castillo and reportedly fled the scene after the collision. He was picked up the next day by Corozal police and has been detained pending charges. Castillo’s two sons, age nine and eleven, were also hit while riding with their father and remain in critical condition at the K.H.M.H.
