Belize-American publishes first book
If you’re interested in another take on Belize’s socio/religious/political situation, a new publication will soon be on the market. “Heat On The Beast” is a hundred page paperback written by Belizean American schoolteacher, Wayne Lopez. Lopez says his first work chronicles the Belizean way of life.
Wayne Lopez, Author “Heat On The Beast”
“When I came to Belize in 1997 I saw a lot of conditions especially with Black people who have a lot of self hate in Belize and it’s because of that self hate we do certain things that are really disrespectful to ourselves. Along with this self-hate we continue to be manipulated by others so I try to correct that using literary work. I wrote a couple of papers…issues for the “Laben” newspaper in Los Angeles and I decided to go further by reaching a mass audience by putting a book together.”
Ann Marie Williams
“Why should Belizeans or the wider world community want to read your book?”
Wayne Lopez
“It’s an international book because it deals with religion, politics and all the areas that govern the human today. You know there are nine activities that govern human beings, religion, politics and sex is another one. I really attack these topics and prayerfully with some understanding our people will live differently.”
“Heat On The Beast” will be on sale at major book stores for twenty dollars a copy starting next week.
