Ramphal sees clear path ahead

Sir Shridath Ramphal, Facilitator, Belize
“This has been an important occasion and an important opportunity for the facilitators to really try to bring the parties together on the issues, which in a sense is much more satisfying long term pursuit than merely dealing with the many, many incidents that we have had to deal with to clear the way to get to this stage of the negotiations but we have done. I think it’s been a very successful and encouraging process so far. Now we must take it to completion.”
Shoman noted that any recommendations made by the facilitators in December would have been first discussed carefully with both governments and once approved, would then be subjected to the political processes of each country for ratification.
