Business Bureau prepares for Expo

Story Picture
“Made In Belize” is a campaign that government is promoting and one local private sector organisation seems to be responding. The second annual Belizean Producers Convention and Exhibition (BELPRO CONEX) affords local producers, exporters and manufacturers the chance to show off their products. Organiser Lourdes Smith says the two-day expo opens on Friday at 5:00 at the Princess Hotel’s conference room. The Prime Minister will be cutting the ribbon.

“What we’re doing too are seminars during the Saturday and Sunday of BELPRO. We have a schedule of seminars for marketing and product development, e-commerce financing, capital financing and investment opportunities in Belize.”

Ann Marie Williams

“Who can attend these seminars and what’s the cost?”

Lourdes Smith

“The cost is twenty dollars per seminar. If you want to attend three or more you pay fifty dollars and you can attend all five.”

“What can Belizeans look forward to seeing or learning about at the Producers Expo and Convention?”

Lourdes Smith

“What we’re trying to do is for them not only to see the product but to ask about processes. For example the Bowen and Bowen Group which is one of our sponsors has a good display of the processes for all their products. We’ll have furniture, producers of beverages, web page designers, handicrafts, other food processors and packagers. We have the Del Oro, the Marie Sharp’s.”

“Entertainment is a service that is provided. It’s a business so we have arranged from different times performers to come in. For example on Sunday 12:00 – 1:30 we gave Griga Boyz. We’ll have Mr. Peter’s Boom and Chime on both Saturday and Sunday. We’ll have a Yo Creek Cultural Group and Steel Band. So it’s good to come out, bring out the family, see what Belizeans have.”

BELPRO CONEX continues on Saturday and Sunday. Doors at the Princess open from 10:00am until 6:00 in the evening. Entrance is one dollar.
