Two dead in Northern Highway crash
Two people lost their lives in an early morning traffic accident on Sunday. They are twenty-seven year old Roberto Herrera and sixteen year old Jose Luis Flores, both of Trial Farm, Orange Walk. Two other passengers in the vehicle, Danny Ponce, eighteen and Ceasar Martinez, twenty, have been treated and released. Police say the car in which the four people were travelling was being driven by twenty-three year old Noel Gonzalez, a construction worker of Belize Street in Orange Walk. Gonzalez told police he was on his way to Belize City and upon reaching between Miles 31 and 30 on the Northern Highway he collided with a van travelling in the opposite direction, driven by businessman Rurico Alvarado of Belize City. Alvarado’s two passengers, Adrian and Larisa Alvarado, thirteen and fifteen years old, suffered minor injuries. Police have detained the driver of the car, Noel Gonzalez, for questioning.
