South African busted for heroin
Checkpoints on major highways have resulted in two major busts by security forces. In Corozal over a pound of heroin was discovered in the vehicle of a South African resident of Belize. Thirty year old Michael Chalwe of Baymen Avenue in Belize City has been charged with drug trafficking after police found the drugs sealed in a tin of pineapple. Chalwe was about to cross the border into Mexico in a grey Nissan Pathfinder. He was remanded to jail until July seventeenth.
