Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“It is significant in the sense that it is important that as senior members of the Belize Police Department that we meet on a regular basis to be able to discuss our strategies and to see what we can do to enhance the level of service that we offer to the public. You would know that the police department is service oriented and we at the senior level been harping to our people that we need to become more professional and efficient and effective in the work that we do. This is one way that we reach to our senior ranks to be able to ensure that we direct them in the direction that we want the department to go as well as to get feedback from them in terms of what we are currently doing. This morning we had the Humans Rights Commission, Mr. Leo Bradley and Ms. Cynthia Pitts. They did an excellent presentation on human rights and to see what they can do to work along with the police to better off the environment within which police work and be able to respect the rights of persons who come into custody of the police.”
