Man Dies in Freak Accident

There was another death over the weekend. On Saturday evening, Rye Pott lost his life in an unfortunate incident.  Pott was working at a construction site in Carmelita Village, in the Orange Walk District, when he fell into a deep hole.  He was standing near the opening when a portion of it caved, causing Pott to plunge inside.  He sustained severe head and body injuries and was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital where he later succumbed. ACP Joseph Myvett told the media today that investigators are looking at all angles.

“Apparently while he was working, a portion of the hole caved in on him which caused him some severe injuries and as a result he ended up succumbing to those injuries while undergoing treatment at the Northern Regional Hospital.”

“Are you all looking to his employer in terms of who is responsible for this? Is there a criminal offence that you can charge someone with?”

“At this point in time it is an ongoing investigation he obviously was employee of that area of the construction site which he was working on.”
